Apple Turnover

Apple Turnover

Coming back from a very exciting experience of apple picking, the effect of it was known only when we came home. 42 apples to eat. Thank God I suggested the smaller of the bags. I knew when we picked that we wouldn’t be able to eat it as whole all the time. Hence, we picked a few of every variety to try and experiment. One such experiment is apple turnover made with sweet gala apples. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheet – 2
  • Gala apples – 4 cut in to pieces
  • Raisins – 3 Tbsp
  • Cashews – 3 Tbsp
  • Dates – Cut – 3 Tbsp
  • Cinnamon – a pinch
  • Nutmeg –  a pinch
  • Sugar / Brown Sugar  – 3 Tbsp
  • Honey – 3 Tbsp

Putting it Together

  • Mix all the above ingredients together and let it rest for a while
  • Roll out the puff pastry with a little bit of flour
  • Cut the pastry in to squares and spoon the filling in to it
  • Fold over the corners and seal it with a little bit of water
  • Bake it in a 400 deg oven till golden brown
  • Note :
  • My filling became a little runny. I should have added a binder like corn starch. You could try that, otherwise the turn over will burn at the bottom
  • You could baste over with egg wash to get the colour
  • You could also put in some bananas and get the panchamirtham consistency
